Maurilio Mangano

Maurilio Mangano is an Italian casting director working in film and high-end television, known for an approach that combines in-depth character work with extensive use of street casting and a strong attention to lived authenticity on screen. He has collaborated with leading European and international directors, including Pablo Larraín, Joe Wright, Luca Guadagnino, Marco Bellocchio, Gianni Amelio, Emma Dante, Maura Del Pero, the D’Innocenzo Brothers, Sergio Castellitto and Marco Bechis.
His work has been recognised with a David di Donatello for Best Casting, as well as nominations for the Nastro d’Argento, nominations for the Semiramis Award and a nomination for the Artios Awards. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars), the European Film Academy (EFA) and the David di Donatello Academy. He is active within the European casting community, takes part in juries, panels and training initiatives, and carries forward a consistent activism on ethics, equal access and the evolution of casting practice. He is based in Rome and works across Italy and abroad.
